Chinese Radish Cake -白罗卜糕



Recipe:

Ingredients:

300 g turnip
20 g (4 pcs) black mushrooms (soaked in water until soft and diced)
240 g rice flour
40 g tang flour/tapioca flour
40 g dried shrimps (soaked in water until soft and diced)
3 cups of water
1 chinese sausage (cut into small pieces)
50 g roast pork (cut i to small pieces)

seasoning:

~ 1 1/2 tsp. salt
~ 1/2 tsp sugar
~1 tsp chicken granule
~ 2 tablespoon oil
~pepper
~ seasame oil

Garnishing:

chopped spring onions
coriander leaves
toasted sesame seeds

Method:

~ 1) Peel and shred turnip. Cook with 1/2 cup of water with 1 tablsepoon sugar.

~2) Dice black mushrooms, dried shrimps and chinese sausage, roast pork.
~3) Mix rice flour and tang flour well with water to form batter. Add in turip shreds and seasoning.
~4) Stir fry the dried shrimps, Chinese sausage, roast pork and mushrooms with 1 tablespoon of oil until fragrant.
~5) Add 3) into 4), stirring all the ingredients until are well mixed and becomes half cooked.
~6) Pour batter into greased baking tin (22 cm) and steam for 50 minutes.
~7) Remove from heat. When cool, slice the radish cake and fry in a non-stick pan till brown.

Sesame Buns





















What's for breakfast tomorrow? It is time to adopt a healthy breakfast habit since I have been eating so much unhealthy and high calorie CNY cookies and stuffs.

So today I bake this sesame buns for my family and myself. Is simply healthier than eating any cookies and love letters. Do you agree with me?
Recipe : (Recipe adapted from Bread Magic-Alan Ooi)
Ingredients:
(A)
300 g bread flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp milk powder
30 g icing sugar

(B) (mix together till frothy)
150 ml water
10 g instant yeast
(C)
1 egg yolk
30 g butter
(D)
20 g toasted black sesame seeds
some white sesame seeds
Method:
~~1) Combine ingredients A in a mixer. Mix lightly before adding in ingredients B. Beat until a dough is formed. Add in ingredients C and beat till dough is smooth and has an elastic touch. Add in ingredients D and mix well.

~~2) Keep the dough in a big bowl, covered with a damp cloth. Leave to rise in a warm place for 40 minutes or u til double in size.
~~3) Divide dough into 10 portions, shape into small balls. Glaze with egg wash and top on some white sesame seeds. Place doughs on a greased baking tray. Leave to proof covered for 45 minutes till double in size.

~~~4) Bake in preheated oven at 180 degree C for 10 -15 minutes till golden. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
